Prologue

A big thanks goes out to Sarah for her help with the prologue!

This story is hard to begin. It's hard to describe to you what I've been through and not make it seem like I'm lying to you. It's something that you wouldn't normally think could happen. But it did.

I guess I'll start by saying this:

It might seem strange of me to describe to you what I look like(most of you already know what I look like though you don't know that yet, of course) but, like I said, I don't know how else to begin. So, here goes: Let's see, I'm fifteen years old. I'm fairly tall, about five foot six or maybe five foot seven. I have long blonde hair. I have bluish-green eyes. I'm a guy(just so you weren't thrown off by the long blonde hair part).

Do I sound familiar? Do you think you know who I am?

I suppose here is where I state my name: Parker Lowell.

Pretty strange, don't you think? Sure, a lot of people are Hanson look- alikes. But you know that girl on Rosie O'Donell(my mother watches it...) that said she could be their sister? She's got nothing on me.

Luckily, I'm in a town where "everybody knows your name." No kidding, that's the town's motto. Anyway, everyone here has known me since my "mother" and I moved here when I was about two. Why do I put quotation' marks around the word mother? The reason is because, though she's the only mother I've ever really know, she's technically not my mother. I'm adopted.

Okay, don't think I can't see you there, sitting at your computer and rolling your eyes and thinking: "Well, we know where this is going, don't we?" Don't push the "Back" button yet. Give me a chance.

Anyway, like I said, I was adopted when I was little, before I can remember my mother or my father(although Gina, the woman who adopted me and also a friend of my mother's, said that I probably wouldn't have known my father whether my mother had chosen to keep me or not) or my brother. My twin brother.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Taylor and I look exactly alike, we're the same age, and I have a long lost twin brother. Putting two and two together is pretty simple, right? Maybe for you. I had my reasons for ruling out Taylor as a possible candidate for my twin brother:

1) The daughter of my mother's friend, Theresa, showed me a picture of him and his brothers standing with his mother; he looks exactly like her(in a masculine way, of course).

2) Let's face it, he looks a lot like the rest of his siblings.

3) Gina thinks a guy named Lawrence picked my brother up out of the foster home we were in before she could get there. Though she's never told me who Lawrence is, I'm assuming that Taylor's current parents would be the ones to pick him up from a foster home. And I know neither of them is named Lawrence.

4) Taylor is a famous person. I'm not. Things like that just don't happen.

Perhaps you can see where I'm coming from on this one and perhaps you can't. Perhaps you think you know what's going to happen but maybe you don't. I know I didn't...
